One Million Visit CoolTea in Sept

Well, okay not one million but almost - 983,801 unique site visits!

That’s a lot of traffic and a testament to using Web 2.0 technologies, like RSS Feeds for our event calendars.

We first installed our new event calendars back in May and shortly there after started to see the site activity climb even though there wasn’t much else going on with the site (e.g., in process of site upgrade we closed down all other applications such as the directory, classifieds, announcements and private subscriber sections).

The previous event calendars were based on cgi technology that is impossible to bookmark since they were dynamically generated per user session. The replacement calendars are built using php with rss feeds that make it very easy to bookmark and therefore are search engine friendly - hence the increasing numbers.

Now that our blog is live, we anticipate that site activity will only continue to grow.

During the next couple of months we will continue to roll out new site features and functionality so to be continued …
